I. The Silent Vaults
Silence hangs over the drowned sanctuary of Vael'thallan like a shroud woven from cold foam and old salt. The ebony tide rushes back through shattered obsidian archways, washing over smooth basalt flagstones where seven shields once rested in battle formation. There are no battle cries left in these sunken corridors, no ring of iron against cosmic scale, no flickering warmth of martial pride. Only the hollow splash of dark waters against ancient columns remains, mirroring the black emptiness left in the wake of an utter catastrophe.
Hours before the black waters claimed the nave, the hall belonged to Cosmora the Astral Devourer. The entity materialized not as flesh, but as a tearing rift in reality—an enormous vortex of void-black ethereal armor haloed by grinding rings of dark matter and dying starlight. Against this celestial predator stood seven Lions, their weapons drawn and their eyes wide with awe that swiftly curdled into terror. They had marched into Vael'thallan hoping to conquer the legend, staking seven thousand hard-won tokens of power upon their victory. Instead, they found a abyss that calculated their every movement, seeking out the seams in their formation with terrible, logical precision.
To look upon the flooded floor now is to trace the geometry of their downfall. Deep gouges in the basalt mark where warriors were dragged across the slick stone against their will. Scraps of torn banners float in seawater pools, and dark residual starlight still crackles faintly in the damp air, marking the exact spots where the line fell apart beneath Cosmora's unyielding weight.
II. The Unraveling Strand
The battle began not with hesitation, but with a surge of collective resolve. When Cosmora first descended through the roof of the sanctuary, Darklyn met the spatial terror with pure solar fury, channeling a Radiant Burst that struck for seven hundred and eleven damage, blinding the entity's abyssal rings. Goldspirit moved in lockstep, unleashing the Attack Of Panda to carve four hundred and ten damage through the creature's ethereal mantle. Chromalio slipped through the mist to drive a Shadow Piercer home for three hundred and six damage, while Aeroblade brought down a critical Attack Of Panda that dealt two hundred and seventy-two damage. Behind them, Dynarion delivered a critical blow for two hundred and sixty damage, Galacturion struck with steady steel, and Goldarion ignited his Rising Fury. For a brief heartbeat, starlight bled onto the stone, and victory seemed tangible.
Yet Cosmora was a cunning predator, studying the war host to disrupt its anchor. In the second movement of the clash, Aeroblade surged forward, executing a Thunder Cleave that shocked the Devourer. The lightning surge locked Cosmora's dark matter rings in place, forcing the beast to lose its momentum and opening a brief window of opportunity. Aeroblade followed swiftly with an Armor Breaker, shattering the entity's defenses while Dynarion and Chromalio sank Toxic Bites into Cosmora's form, corrupting its astral essence with creeping poison.
The respite was tragically brief. As the shock faded, Cosmora uttered a chilling truth that echoed through the drowning vault: 'Every formation has a weakness.' The entity flexed its celestial core, triggering a massive Gravity Well. The air in Vael'thallan collapsed inward with a sickening roar. Gravitational fissures tore through the hall, violently pulling all seven Lions toward the center of the room. Armor cracked and ribs shattered under the immense crush; Galacturion suffered twenty-four damage from the sheer pull before Cosmora's broad assault shattered his defenses entirely, leaving him critically wounded at the mercy of the dark tide.
III. The Annihilation
In the midst of the crushing void, the Lions rallied with desperate courage. Goldspirit swung a Crimson Cleave across Cosmora's core, dealing four hundred and eighty-five damage and weakening the boss's offensive power, before driving another critical Toxic Bite for six hundred and eighty-three damage. Darklyn poured every ounce of strength into his strikes, landing a crushing critical hit for six hundred and eighty-eight damage and followed by four hundred and forty-one more. Dynarion, Goldarion, Chromalio, and Aeroblade poured their remaining mana into Regenerations of Maya and Furry, patching their bleeding wounds as the stone floor vanished beneath rising saltwater.
Cosmora's intellect was absolute. Declaring 'I know who holds this army together,' the Devourer summoned a second, devastating Gravity Well. The spatial pressure ripped through the room once more, pummeling the weakened line. Then came the catastrophe. In one continuous, agonizing sweep of dark matter energy, Cosmora assaulted the entire surviving vanguard. Dynarion, Goldarion, Chromalio, and Darklyn—the high-ranking vanguard who had carried the brunt of the assault—were struck down simultaneously in a single critical cataclysm. Their defenses collapsed instantly, and their forms vanished into the swirling shadows.
Alone in the rising waters, Aeroblade and Goldspirit refused to yield. Aeroblade stood his ground through another sweeping strike before being eliminated in the eighth movement, leaving Goldspirit as the solitary defender of Vael'thallan. Bleeding and exhausted, Goldspirit summoned his final strength, landing a fierce critical strike for four hundred and ninety-six damage that cracked Cosmora's dark armor. But the Devourer was relentless. In the ninth and final movement, Cosmora activated Gravity Well one last time, tearing seventy health from Goldspirit before delivering the final strike that extinguished the last light in the sanctuary.
Now, the non-linear chronicle loops back to where it began: the cold, drowned quiet of Vael'thallan. The black tide has fully swallowed the lower vaults, washing away the blood and smothering the residual starlight. The seven thousand tokens committed to this raid were consumed by the void, leaving behind no victory share, no glory, and no survivor to claim the sunken hall.
Cosmora the Astral Devourer remains entrenched within the obsidian heart of the sanctuary, floating silently amidst the dark waters. The immense hoard of materials brought by the fallen host—including five thousand units of Iron, five thousand sand, five hundred wood, one hundred clay bricks, and supplies of meat, wheat, rye, and cotton—was added to the boss's hoard, locked away in the abyssal depths until another war host dares to challenge the dark tide.
Only when the tumult over Vael'thallan, the Drowned Sanctuary had fallen silent did the material consequence become clear: 🌌 Cosmora the Astral Devourer drew Wheat into the hoard awaiting the next assault. The reward was no ledger entry, but a tangible mark left by the ordeal.
