The Eighth Inversion of Oros

The First Pulse: Lightning and Venom

The air within the catacombs of the Obsidian Ziggurat of Oros did not blow; it throbbed. Beneath the swirling violet sky of the supernatural eclipse, the exposed subterranean plaza felt like the interior of a dying heart. Just as they had on the previous day, seven pride-warriors strode across the shattered glass flagstones, their boots crunching on remnants of stardust inscriptions. Above them hung Cosmora the Astral Devourer—a towering mass of nebular smoke weaving through jagged, starlit bones, its hollow chest pulsing with gravitational instability. Every seven heartbeats, that hollow core emitted a low, sub-audible hum, counting down toward a catastrophe that had already consumed seven prior expeditions.

The vanguard did not wait for the eighth pulse to complete. Goldspirit charged first, channeling the ferocious spirit of the panda as a critical strike carved a glowing rift through the entity's starry ribs. Beside Goldspirit, Chromalio struck from the shadows with a Shadow Piercer arrow that shattered against Cosmora's neck in a flash of critical light. Aeroblade brought down a crackling Thunder Cleave, driving a jagged arc of lightning directly into the void core. The electrical shock locked Cosmora in mid-air, delaying the dreaded Gravity Well that threatened to draw them all into the abyss. Capitalizing on the monster's momentary paralysis, Goldspirit, Dynarion, and Ignix sank venomous strikes deep into the nebula haze, coating the starlit bones in a burning emerald mist.

The Second Pulse: The Implosion of Hope

The delay was brief. As the shock faded, Cosmora uttered a hollow reverberation across the obsidian plaza: “Mercy ended when you entered my domain.” The central void expanded suddenly, warping the light around the monoliths. A localized gravity well violently collapsed inward, tearing chunks of glass flooring from their foundations and pulling all seven warriors into a brutal crush. Icetian, already reeling from an early targeted strike, was stripped of armor and crushed beneath the atmospheric pressure, becoming the first mark upon the catacomb floor.

Knowing the void's merciless nature toward the wounded, Ignix stepped forward and invoked the Forge Barrier. Runic shields flared across every remaining warrior, absorbing a fraction of the kinetic force crushing their lungs. Yet Cosmora turned its cruel focus directly onto Ignix. With a single precise strike of astral force, the entity overwhelmed the barrier, eliminating Ignix instantly despite the massive damage prevented. Undeterred by the loss, Goldspirit unleashed a devastating claw strike enhanced by Mist Veil, dealing high critical damage that tore away large swaths of Cosmora's nebular mantle. Goldspirit then wove the Regeneration Of Maya, restoring lost strength while Aeroblade and Artisano continued their relentless flurry.

The Final Countdown: Extinction in the Catacombs

By the seventh round, the ziggurat echoed with relentless gravitational shocks. Cosmora launched wide, sweeping assaults that battered the surviving lineup. Artisano defended valiantly alongside Aeroblade, both taking brutal impacts that shattered their remaining defenses. As the ninth pulse vibrated through the floor, Cosmora activated another Gravity Well followed immediately by a sweeping shockwave. Dynarion was caught in the focal point of the crush and vanished into the void haze.

Only four remained as the tenth cycle began, but the cruel modifier of the Devourer pressed every advantage against the bleeding pride. A violent supernova of cosmic force washed across the arena floor. In a single horrifying moment, Artisano, Chromalio, and Aeroblade were overwhelmed, their bodies swept aside against the crumbling monoliths. Goldspirit stood alone as the final survivor, bleeding heavily but driving a last critical blow into Cosmora's core, bringing total personal damage to an astonishing five thousand and eighty-two.

The eleventh pulse was the final stroke. Cosmora raised its arms of nebular smoke and brought down an absolute kinetic collapse upon Goldspirit. The last golden glow vanished beneath the shadow of Oros.
