The Glass Citadel's Eclipse: Chapter X

Beneath the frozen void of Oros, five champions challenge the Astral Devourer only to be pulled into the void.

The Glass Citadel's Eclipse: Chapter X

Shadows over the Glass Citadel

The black glass walls of the Obsidian Ziggurat of Oros hummed with an unnatural, bone-chilling resonance. Only the previous day, a fallen vanguard had bled out across the shattered steps of the lower catacombs, their weapons swallowed by the shifting sand and cosmic soot. Now, beneath the same suffocating, swirling violet eclipse that turned the desert sky into a frozen void, five warriors pressed forward into the ancient abyss.

The subterranean chambers stretched out like a labyrinth of razor-sharp volcanic obsidian. Inscriptions of stardust pulsed along the walls, whispering lost names into the freezing silence. At the center of the grand amphitheater waited Cosmora the Astral Devourer—a towering horror of nebular smoke held together by jagged, starlit bones. Its core was a hollow tear in reality, drinking in the light and heat of the world.

Before the vanguard could even establish their battle line, Cosmora’s hollow core flared with cruel intelligence. The entity turned its cold, starless gaze toward Neroth. A swift, silent burst of gravitational force caught Neroth instantly, shattering armor and tearing through flesh before the warrior could even draw a weapon. Neroth collapsed onto the obsidian tiles without delivering a single strike, dead before the echoes of his footsteps had ceased.

The Blinding Assault

Reeling from the instantaneous loss of their companion, the remaining four champions rallied around Goldspirit. With a roar that echoed through the catacombs, Goldspirit unleashed the Attack Of Panda, driving a crushing blow into the Astral Devourer for 410 damage. Beside him, Artisano seized the momentum, scoring a critical Attack Of Panda that dealt 140 damage and splintered the cosmic mist around Cosmora’s flank.

Goldarion channeled his magic into Rising Fury, imbuing his own strikes with searing offensive light, while Chromalio darted through the gloom. Executing a pitch-black Shadow Piercer strike for 314 damage, Chromalio bound the boss in silence, temporarily suppressing Cosmora's terrifying vocal incantations.

Capitalizing on the silenced beast, Goldspirit and Artisano drew upon the Regeneration Of Furry to rapidly recover their spent mana. Goldarion stepped in with a blinding critical attack for 117 damage, and Chromalio followed up with a critical Toxic Bite, dealing 314 damage and embedding virulent venom directly into Cosmora’s ethereal structure. For a fleeting moment, the vanguard believed they could turn the tide.

Gravity's Iron Maw

The silence bound around Cosmora shattered as the poison burned within its nebular core. Rising high into the vault of the catacombs, the boss unleashed its monstrous specialty: Gravity Well. The air pressure plummeted to zero. Monoliths floated into the air, and an irresistible singularity pulled all four lions toward the entity's hollow center, tearing away their vitality.

Cosmora followed the vortex with a sweeping area-of-effect assault across the entire chamber. Goldspirit, Goldarion, and Chromalio raised their shields, barely absorbing the physical kinetic impact, while Artisano took the full brunt of the cataclysmic energy. Crushing gravitational forces wrapped around every champion, binding their movements.

Defiant despite the suffocating weight, Goldspirit retaliated with a tremendous critical Toxic Bite, carving 784 damage out of the monster. Artisano struck back critically for 202 damage, and Chromalio hastily invoked the Regeneration Of Maya to restore 35 health. Yet as the second wave of Cosmora's army-wide assault pounded the ground, armor shattered into black dust across the chamber floor.

The Fall of the Vanguard

The battlefield degenerated into violent, desperate chaos. In the fifth movement of the clash, Cosmora focused its cruel wrath directly on Chromalio, unleashing a devastating critical strike of 330 damage that overwhelmed Chromalio's shattered defenses and put an end to his lethal maneuvers.

By the sixth movement, Cosmora summoned another Gravity Well, dragging the survivors through jagged obsidian debris. The entity targeted Artisano, dealing a critical 321 damage strike that obliterated his remaining health. Artisano fell into the darkness, leaving only Goldspirit and Goldarion standing amid the violet sparks.

Goldspirit refused to yield, driving his blade into the nebular smoke for 559 critical damage. Goldarion matched his fury with an 81 damage critical strike, but their endurance was spent. In the eighth movement, Cosmora single-targeted Goldarion with a punishing 131 critical damage blow, extinguishing the warrior's life despite his heroic attempt to defend.

Alone in the grand catacombs beneath the violet eclipse, Goldspirit stood as the final defender of the expedition. Fueled by sheer rage, he carved strike after strike into the Astral Devourer—608 critical damage, then 602 critical damage, and another 392 damage as the monster battered his breaking form. For three agonizing turns, Goldspirit fought against impossible odds, his body battered by localized gravitational fractures.

In the eleventh and final movement, with his health depleted to a mere ember, Goldspirit raised his weapon one last time. Cosmora surged forward with brutal, cruel finality, delivering a blow of 62 damage through his raised guard. Goldspirit collapsed onto the obsidian floor, and silence settled once more over the Ziggurat of Oros.

The raid ended in absolute defeat, yielding a total payout of 0 PIXY for the fallen warriors. The 5,000 PIXY staked upon the expedition were lost to the dark halls. Cosmora gathered the abandoned equipment of the slain vanguard, sweeping fresh spoils into its massive vault; among the plunder, a pristine Trade Cart Kit was added to the boss's hoard alongside tons of raw iron and coal, waiting for whoever dares to challenge the Astral Devourer next.

Only when the tumult over The Obsidian Ziggurat of Oros - Lower Catacombs had fallen silent did the material consequence become clear: 🌌 Cosmora the Astral Devourer drew Hemp into the hoard awaiting the next assault. The reward was no ledger entry, but a tangible mark left by the ordeal.
