The Shattered Archways
A blind, violent pulse of violet thunder ripped through the shattered marble archways of the Star-Fall Observatory, shattering ancient gravity-runes into brilliant sprays of dying light. Stone platforms, suspended for millenia over the bottomless abyss, shuddered violently as a towering, serpentine mass of coalesced void-matter, constantly shifting between semi-transparent smoke and razor-sharp, obsidian-like plates, with a pulsating core of cold, violet light, unleashed its fury. Dynarion stood at the precipice, his armor stripped away by prior shockwaves, bracing his weight against a cracked pedestal while the air grew thick with ozone and floating ash.
In a sudden, suffocating burst of sound, the Overcharged Leviathan swept its colossal tail across the center ring. Dynarion took the brunt of the kinetic impact, his forward momentum halted permanently as his form collapsed over the ledge into the dark sky below. Beside him, Neroth was caught in the same brutal sweep; despite weaving defensive wards throughout the early moments, his body broke against the ancient stonework before slipping into the cloud cover. In a single, horrific instant, two of the warband’s anchors were extinguished, leaving the remaining fighters isolated on fractured islands of marble.
Echoes of the Previous Fall
The previous day, the pride had retreated from these very stones, leaving blood and broken steel scattered across the floating remnants of the observatory. Driven by the memory of that failure, the seven warriors had climbed the spiraling ethereal stairs once more, determined to break the Legendary beast. As the storm gathered its initial strength, they had struck with disciplined, lethal coordination. Darklyn had stepped into the central dais first, channeling a blinding Radiant Burst that scorched the Leviathan’s obsidian scales for seven hundred and forty-five points of raw damage, lighting up the sky like a fallen star.
Chromalio had followed without hesitation, driving a Shadow Piercer deep into a juncture between the beast's shifting plates, scoring a critical blow that rattled the void-entity to its core. Aeroblade brought his thunderous edge down with a heavy Thunder Cleave, unleashing a surging electrical shock that momentarily paralyzed the Leviathan’s massive form. For a fleeting minute, as shock locked the creature's limbs and prevented its suffocating counter-attack, victory felt within reach. The storm seemed to pause, held at bay by the raw courage of seven united champions.
The Venomous High Tide
Seizing the window created by Aeroblade’s disabling strike, Goldspirit lunged forward, sinking a Toxic Bite into the creature's pulsating core for over a thousand damage. Corrosive essence seeped into the Leviathan's smoky frame, blackening its outer plates while Goldspirit followed up with the devastating fury of a dragon. Aeroblade splintered the beast's remaining natural defenses with an Armor Breaker strike, allowing Goldarion and Chromalio to pour relentless physical pressure into the fray.
Yet the Overcharged entity possessed a dark resilience tied to the observatory’s corrupt magic. Gathering fifty units of latent power, it channeled Nethervoid Asphyxia directly into Darklyn. The air was dragged from Darklyn’s lungs in an instant, surrounding his head with a choking violet mist that rendered him completely silent and unable to weave further incantations. Though Aeroblade scrambled to restore his own vitality with ancient rites, the tide began to turn. The beast released a broad sweep of void energy across all seven champions, shattering their armor plates and painting the pristine white marble with crimson.
The Slaughter on the Dais
The sixth round claimed Dynarion and Neroth, and from that moment, the battle disintegrated into a desperate struggle for survival. By the seventh exchange, the Leviathan whirled through the central plaza again. Chromalio, his essence drained from relentless spellcasting, was caught in mid-stride and thrown into the churning void. Aeroblade, fighting on mere instinct with his health utterly spent, was swept away seconds later as another crushing shockwave leveled the outer pillar array.
Darklyn recovered his breath briefly, delivering a mighty seven-hundred-damage retaliatory strike, but the Leviathan singled him out in the eighth round, driving an obsidian spike through his chest and ending his crusade. Goldarion fought on with stubborn defiance alongside Goldspirit, scoring critical hits against the monster’s scarred carapace, but in the tenth round, the Overcharged entity turned its terrifying gaze upon Goldarion. A direct, crushing blow terminated his stand, leaving only a single golden lion remaining on the crumbling, blood-stained marble.
Goldspirit stood alone on the highest floating tier, his armor vanished, surrounded by howling winds and the distant flashes of violet lightning. With Nethervoid Asphyxia constricting his throat and stealing his ability to call upon the light, he refused to back down. Raising his blade with both hands, he struck out twice more, driving steel into the beast's heart for nearly eight hundred combined damage. The Leviathan snarled, its power regenerating steadily through the storm, before gathering its final store of energy for a devastating, broad-spectrum blast.
The wide sweep tore through the remaining archways, lifting Goldspirit from his feet and casting him into the endless abyss alongside his six fallen comrades. All seven thousand gold committed to the raid were swallowed by the storm, resulting in a total payout of 0 PIXY for the failed venture.
